Admission FAQ's
The following is provided for your information only.

Who may attend the school?

Upon the recommendation of their Pastor, St. Francis School accepts students of families who are registered at Santa Clara, San Antonio or St. Martin parishes.

Do my children have to be Catholic to attend?

Yes, all students must be Catholic to attend St. Francis School.  Proof of baptism is required before registration.

How do I apply?
The process starts at Open House in January.

Obtain a New Student Information Sheet and a Pastor recommendation form from the school office.

Return completed form to school office and submit Pastor recommendation form to your home parish.

When the school receives the Pastor recommendation form from your home parish, you will be notified. (The Pre-K process varies slightly.  Families interested in Pre-K applications should call the school office for details.)

Formal Registration and Acceptance:  After all applications have been reviewed by the Pastors, screening has been completed and it is determined that St. Francis School can meet the needs of the students, available openings will be filled based on the Priority of Admissions Policy as outlined below.

For Returning Families:  Pastors will recommend admission for returning families based on active family participation in the life of their parish. THEN Pastors will recommend admission for siblings of currently registered St. Francis families, based on active family participation in the life of their parish.

Pastors will recommend admission for students of registered members of San Antonio, St. Martin, and Santa Clara Parishes, based on active family participation in the life of their parish, subject to the remaining available spaces. Santa Clara parish members will obtain a pastor recommendation from Santa Clara, San Antonio or St. Martin parishes. St Martin and San Antonio parishes are allocated one half of the available spaces which includes Santa Clara parish.

How does St. Francis School balance school enrollment?

One half of each incoming Pre-K class is reserved for St. Martin and San Antonio parish
(which includes Santa Clara students). Siblings have priority to fill the allotted spaces. If the one-half criterion is not met with siblings, then the available spaces will be filled by parish, with new students who have been recommended by their pastors for Pre-K.

How old must my child be to attend St. Francis School?
To enroll for the coming year in Pre-K your child must be 4 years old on or before September 1st and toilet trained.

To enroll for the coming year in Kindergarten, your child must be 5 years on or before September 1st.

To enroll for the coming year in First Grade, your child must be 6 years old on or before September 1st.

Is there an entrance exam?

No.  In order to ensure a smooth transition for all students, the school will conduct a grade level placement for students entering Kindergarten through 6th Grade.  For students entering Kindergarten, a readiness screening is conducted to determine if a student is ready for our program.  The results of all testing will be a factor in admitting new students.
