We are proud of our St. Francis students! Our dress should reflect our attitude of pride, reverence and self-respect. We are ambassadors of our school and witnesses of our faith and therefore, our uniform dress should be a visible sign to our community of who we are.

The primary purpose of our uniform policy is to assure that each and every student at St. Francis of Assisi School is neat, clean and well-groomed. Complete uniforms will be required the entire year. The Pre-Kindergarten students do not wear uniforms. IT IS THE PARENT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SEE THAT EACH STUDENT IS NEAT, CLEAN, WELL-GROOMED AND DRESSED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS CODE FROM SEPTEMBER THROUGH JUNE. Students who are not dressed in accordance with the uniform policy will be in violation of the school dress code.

Mass Day Attire:

Girls must wear jumper/blouse or skirt/blouse. Boys must wear long pants/shirts. If needed, jackets or sweaters may be worn on Mass days. Students are not allowed to wear sweatshirts for Mass.

Additional Guidelines:

• Hair style should contribute to a neat, well-groomed appearance. Hair spray/gel should be used in moderation. Large hair bows or extreme ornaments are not allowed. Dyed or color-treated hair is not allowed.

• Shirts and blouses must be tucked in at all times.

• Skirts and jumpers must come to the top of the knee.

• Oversized, baggy or "sagging" uniforms are not permittes. Any "waited" item of clothing must be worn in the appropriate manner.

• Shoes: Students may wear durable, protective leather or canvas fully enclosed shoes that are compatible with the color of the school uniform - primary color of shoe being white, brown, black, navy or gray. For student safety, laced shoes must be tied securely. High top tennis shoes, slip-on shoes, sandals, boots (or boot type), high heel shoes, or plastic shoes are not allowed.

• PE Dress: School uniform is appropriate for PE. Students are required to wear tennis shoes.

• If belt loops are provided on the pants or shorts, belts are required to be worn. Acceptable colors are navy, khaki, hunter green or black.

• No hats of any kind may be worn exclusive of uniform hats at school or school sporting events. Hats must be worn forward and may never be worn in the classroom.

Free Dress:

Free dress will be allowed only on designated days. Parents are asked to see that students are dressed appropriately when free dress is permitted. Students are allowed to wear jeans and appropriate tops and shirts. Not allowed for free dress are crop tops, sleeveless tops, thin straps, bare shoulders, and clothing with violent or inappropriate words or illustrations.
